Keyboard is the main components that’s allows you to
communicate with your computer. For the keyboard to work with your computer you
will need to install software’s that will allows computer systems to work with
a keyboard. Such drivers are:
Keyboard drivers: Make sure you install keyboard
drivers for the computer to communicate with a keyboard otherwise the keyboard
will not work.
Firmware: is usually stored in ROM in the keyboard or
in a chip on a motherboard that contains low-code to communicate with hardware.
How keyboard work with a computer systems
Every time you press a certain key on your computer
contacts the grid, the keyboard controller detects the keystroke and generates
a keycode.
For the keycode to display the character that you see
on the screen will need to be converted to ASCII (binary number 0s and 1s) code
automatically. Now after all process computers display the typed character on
the screen. All process takes place within a few seconds.
Installing a keyboard
To install the keyboard is straight forward, you plug in
the keyboard into the PS/2 connector on the system then it works. The windows
will communicate with a keyboard through installed keyboard drivers.
For the external keyboard to communicate with a system
you will need to connect on the USB port
Configuring keyboard
The keyboard configuration doesn’t involve lot of work.
After you plug into the system it works. Windows allows you to configure the
blink rate of the cursor and the repeat rate.
Configure keyboard options in windows 10
On search windows type in control panel, type in
keyboard on search console and tap keyboard.
The keyboard properties dialog appears, now you can
check keyboard status (repeat options) and change the cursor blink rate. Adjust
according to your need.
Then click ok to apply changes on settings and close
the dialog window.
