In today’s world many laptop, tablet have camera capability integrated in it, that we always use this camera as the webcam video for video chat either on Skype or any other video chat apps, taking pictures or video and much more. But some users won’t need to keep their laptop/tablet camera on because of security reason. In this article, I will show you some tips you can use to turn on or off your computer webcam in windows 10.

Enable/disable camera using windows 10 settings

Open windows 10 settings desktop app by pressing Win + I shortcut key or click on the start menu button then select settings (gear icon) on windows 10.

On the settings window, you will find the list of options, select “Privacy”

On the privacy window in the left pane, select camera from the list, you will see the options named “Let apps use my camera” now slide the toggle to turn off, and prevents all apps from accessing your webcam.

Disable camera using device manager

If you decide to use the device manager, you will completely disabling your camera in windows 10, so follow the following tips to turn off or on the camera.

Press the Win + X shortcut key simultaneously, small pop up window will appear select device manager.

Once the device manager window open, find and expand imaging devices or integrated camera depending on how it’s named on your device by clicking on the scroll button to display your camera. 

Right click on it, from the list select Disable next to uninstall. If you will be asked confirmation, select yes.
