CBI Software Company discovered social media network
applied for patent which would allow them to capture pictures of the user
through their phone as they browse. The design date back 2015, and include
illustrations of a person holding their smartphone, with a camera taking
picture and detecting emotions features like smiling or frowning.
The main idea is that not everything seen by people on Facebook
news feed can make them smile or laugh, others may frown. So due to such factors
Facebook wants to analyse your facial expression so that may improve the
placement of content in their Newsfeed, such how you accept to like what
you’re seeing on the site. For instance if you’re appear to smile while seeing
something on the site it means Facebook could place the similar content on their Newsfeed. Also if you appear to frown
while seeing something on the site it means you are not enjoying the content you’re
watching, so Facebook could remove the similar content from their Newsfeed. But
currently there’s no confirmation that Facebook has received the approval to
move forward with this.
