Customize command prompt
Command line prompt
provides interface to interact with your computer by the use of command, with
command prompt you can perform different activities like turning on/off the
firewall, viewing the network adapter, to remove viruses, show hidden files and
much more. So with customized CMD will be better for you since you will enjoy
interacting with it. Every Microsoft windows have command prompt, but for my
case I will base on windows 10, but still the similar approach can work for
other windows like 8 or 7.
Windows 10 command prompt
has more improvements compared to command prompt from windows 7 or 8. In windows
10 you can customize the CMD by changing the background color, font style and
color, increase its transparent and much more. Here I will show tip to customize
the command prompt too easily follow the following steps below.
Open the command prompt,
press Win + X, from the appeared dialog click the command prompt with
administrator privileges “Command prompt (Admin)”. Tap yes if you asked to
verify user account control.
How to change command prompt font and font size:
On the open administrator privilege
command prompt, place the cursor at the top menu with white color named “Administrator:
Command prompt”, then right click, from the options select properties bottom of
the list, from the top menu select font now you can decide the size, font you
want to use also you can choose bold font if you need this feature then click
ok to save changes.
How to change the command prompt layout
The command prompt layout
will change the size on how its seen on the desktop screen, to change you need
to hit In the command prompt properties window open on the top menu click the
layout tab, now you can change the screen buffer size, window size width and
length as well as window position.
How to change command prompt text color and screen background color
In the command prompt
properties window open, on the top menu click the colours tab: To change the
screen background colour tap the radio button in front of screen background and
choose your window screen background color on the selected screen colours. As you
select the colour the selected colours values changes, try to observe that then
click ok to save the changes.
To change the text color,
tap in the radio button in front of screen text and select the color you do
prefer mostly to use as your window text color on the selected screen colours. Click
ok to save the changes. You can do the same for the popup text and popup
background.
How to enable Ctrl keyboard shortcuts in command prompt
You can easily enable Ctrl
keyboard shortcut in command prompt such as find (Ctrl + F), copy (Ctrl + C), paste
(Ctrl + V), highlight (Ctrl + A) using the following steps.
On the open administrator privilege
command prompt, place the cursor at the top menu with white color named “Administrator:
Command prompt”, then right click, from the options select properties bottom of
the list, click the options tab from the menu. On edit options tick the
checkbox named “Enable Ctrl key shortcuts” then press ok to allow the changes
to take place.
How to enable command prompt window transparent
Use the above approach to
open the command prompt properties, click the colours tab on the menu, and
change the slider under opacity to set the transparency as per your need. Then press
ok to continue.
